If you are a member or affiliate of the Northville Placid Trail Chapter (or plan to be), you are invited to train as one of our volunteer trip leaders. Our trip leaders have a variety of interests and abilities, and we welcome anyone who wants to get involved in leading outings. Our outings include day hikes, backpacking trips, paddling, skiing, and similar excursions, and range from beginner to advanced. We have a half day trip leader training activity that is required before you can lead hikes for our organization, and we encourage trip leaders to be First Aid or Wilderness First Aid certified, but this is not required.
The date for this spring’s trip leader training is Sunday, April 15, from 9 am – 12 noon in Lake Placid, NY. If you are traveling from a good distance, we have a few bunks available in a yurt (mixed gender, shared space) the night before if you would like to arrive early. These will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you have questions or would like to sign up, please contact Outings Chair Diana Niland at email@example.com by April 1.
