Owl’s Head Fire Tower – Long Lake NY
Round Trip Distance: 6 + miles
Elevation gain: 1300 ft
Difficulty rating: C+, B due to a steep pitch before the summit

This will be a family-oriented hike leaving from the trailhead on Endion Road in Long Lake. (43.963426, -74.452686)
We’ll start out at 10 AM and follow a leisurely pace for the three miles to the summit of Owls Head Mt, allowing extra time to take pictures and watch nature.

Lunch and snacks at the site of the former caretaker’s cabin or the summit. We’ll make a group decision.

Tower views, leisure time and lots of pictures on the summit, before we return the way we came.

A spontaneous post-hike visit to Custards Last Stand is also planned.

Water, sunscreen, bug spray, running shoes or hiking boots plus the other essentials are recommended.

Diffuculty rating: This is a C hike suitable for all.
Elevation gain: 500 ft
Round trip distance: 2 miles

A family-friendly hike to the open summit of Coney Mountain where we will apply ‘leave no trace’ principles to a box of ice cream sandwiches.

We’ll start out at 11 AM from the trailhead on Route 30 and follow an easy pace to the top. (44.099845, -74.529169)

Water, sunscreen, bug spray, camera, running shoes or hiking boots and other essentials are recommended.

Afternoon hike to Upper Sargent Pond
North Point Road, Long Lake
Round trip distance: 2.34 miles
Elevation gain: 300 feet
Difficulty rating: This is a C hike suitable for all.

This is a relatively flat walk to a picturesque Adirondack pond.
We’ll leave from the trailhead on Northpoint Road at 1 PM and follow the path to the shore of Upper Sargent Pond where we will take in the views.

Binoculars, water, sunscreen, bug spray, camera, running shoes or hiking boots and other essentials are recommended.

An optional side trip to Buttermilk Falls is also planned.
